You will be greeted by our Wings crew and invited on board where lunch will be served. Once you’ve been orientated around the vessel relax and take in the scenery as you sail to your first dive and snorkel location. As you head to one of the northern islands of the Whitsunday Islands you will cross Whitsunday Passage and pass the Mole group of islands before arriving at Hook or Hayman Island.
Once your at your first location its time to take the plunge into the blue tropical waters and get to see what the Great Barrier Reef is really about.
Certified divers will be guided by our onboard PADI instructor around the coral bombies of the fringing reefs. Our instructors bring underwater cameras on every dive, capturing those life time memories of you and the underwater world.
We offer discover scuba diving courses for non-certified divers. With our instructor by your side you will be able to experience what it is like to breath underwater and go on an underwater tour of the Great Barrier Reef.
After the snorkeling and diving has finished its back on board for a beer and some sunset snacks whilst you cruise to your overnight anchorage. After diner crew will invite you to view an eco slide show, showing you some photos of what you may see and observe underwater and also pictures that have been taken whilst diving that day. Look out after dark for shooting stars or sit on the back deck and watch the fish swim in and out of our underwater blue lights.
After breakfast you will be taken to the magnificent Whitehaven Beach where you will be able to explore the beautiful white silica sands of Whitehaven. You will be taken on a short bush walk to the lookout where you will be able to overlook the entire beach in its finest glory. This is a picturesque setting and great for photo opportunities.
Once back on board sit back and relax while we sail out to Bait Reef which is situated in the Outer Great Barrier Reef.
Bait Reef is an amazing reef with a vast amount of great dive sites, from shallow lagoons to vertical walls there is a vast range of dives for all skill levels.
With limited vessels travelling to Bait Reef, you have the unique advantage to have dive sites to yourself.
There is an abundance of reef sharks, turtles, moray eels, sting rays, giant trevally and also your macro species such as Nudibranch, pipe fish, whip shrimps, blennies and gobi’s at Bait reef, perfect for any keen diver and budding photographer.
You will have the opportunity to participate in a scuba dive once we arrive at the reef and if we still have enough daylight another dive shortly after. The reef comes alive at night with different species of fish and crustaceans coming out to feed. Reef Sharks, Trevally, Flowery Cod and free swimming moray eels and lets not forget the sleeping turtles.
After diner you will be invited to join the crew in viewing the days pictures. The evening slide show is great fun as our host would have taken some great photos of guests at the beach and our dive instructors would have captured all the days diving. Summarizing a fun packed day at the Great Barrier Reef.
We will moor at Bait Reef on a private mooring overnight.
If you are an early bird a real treat is waking up for sunrise as it creeps over the horizon its truly a fantastic display and great a photo opportunity.
An early morning dive at another dive site is available for the keen diving enthusiasts and for the slow risers there is one straight after breakfast.
We will stay at Bait Reef or a surrounding reef until mid afternoon so there is a possibility of diving up to 5 times on Day 3 (see dive sites info).
After the final dives have finished and everyone is back on board, it’s time to hoist the sails and set sail back towards the Whitsunday Islands.
